Membership for owner-boatmen
In principle, all self-employed ship owners who have suitable vessels for the quantity and goods structure of MSG can become members.
The system of MSG offers numerous advantages to owner-boatmen who are members.
Priority is given to the possibility of a permanently good utilization of their holds at economically attractive cargo. This increases planning reliability with regard to their investments and absorbs impacts from severe fluctuations in the cargo market.
Furthermore, they have access to the information network and the know-how of MSG in such vital areas as
customer acquisition,
contracts of carriage,
accounting,
accounts receivable management,
marketing,
quality management,
legal advice, etc.
Moreover, they can benefit from the advantages of a large network (e.g. with purchasing conditions, pilot services, etc.). They get access to transport orders (e.g. from large-sized shippers and industrial clients), which would be offered to them in their capacity as individual suppliers of hold only indirectly as subcontractors or not at all.
In return, the members of the association make their holds available and are responsible for the technical condition and operability of the vessels (safety, equipment, crew, etc.)
